🌈 We’re Still in Cape Canaveral—Through May 2026!
The Wizard of Oz Museum is proud to continue welcoming visitors to our beloved Cape Canaveral location until May 2026. Despite what you may have heard, we’re not moving to Kissimmee—we’re heading just down the road to Cocoa Beach, where even more immersive magic awaits.
🏠 Our Current Home
Located just minutes from Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach Pier, our museum features:
Over 2,000 authentic Wizard of Oz artifacts
A fully immersive Van Gogh experience
A cosmic journey through James Webb Space Telescope imagery
Interactive exhibits for kids and adults alike
We’re still open 7 days a week, and our Cape Canaveral location remains one of Florida’s top-rated attractions.
What’s Next: Cocoa Beach Expansion
In 2026, we’ll be opening a larger, more dynamic space in Cocoa Beach with:
More Wizard of Oz memorabilia to display
Expanded and enhanced immersive experience
Walking distance to the Dinosaur Museum and Ron Jon Surf Museum
Later, having a Ruby Slipper boat tour ride from the museum property into the Banana River
We’re excited to grow—but we’re even more excited to keep sharing the magic right here in Cape Canaveral until then.
📍 Why
To be direct, after two years of navigating the difficult process of trying to build a new museum from the ground up, a perfect opportunity presented itself in Cocoa Beach. We realized that while the Kissimmee plan was a vision for a new build, this new building in Cocoa Beach is a ready-made home for our magic.
This move is not just a strategic pivot; it’s a financial success story. The land we acquired in Kissimmee has significantly increased in value. By selling that property at the market rate, we not only gain the opportunity to invest in a much better-suited building in Cocoa Beach, but the proceeds will also help us cover our borrowing expenses, making this new vision a financially sound one.
Owning our new building is a game-changer for us. It means we have no limitations on our capital expenditure, allowing us to invest significantly in the visitor experience. We’re doubling the size, but more importantly, we’re introducing new elements that were simply impossible in our current leased space. Our new immersive experience room will be custom-designed to include sensors covering the floor, providing features that enhance the Immersive experiences.
The best part is, we’re staying right here on the Space Coast. We’ll be moving to a prime tourist location in Cocoa Beach, just a few blocks from attractions like the iconic Ron Jon Surf Shop. With the Dinosaur Store and the Florida Surf Museum also in the same area, we see a real opportunity to create a “Cocoa Beach Museum District,” a collaborative effort that offers a diverse and family-friendly experience all within a short walk. In fact, we envision a central spot where a yellow brick road will lead to our museum, a blue path will lead to the Surf Museum, and a brown path will lead to the Dinosaur Museum. This is a strategic move that allows us to deliver on a more magical vision for our guests and for the community as a whole.
