Wizard of Oz Memorabilia and Rare Artifacts
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was published in 1900, nearly 40 years before MGM’s 1939 film. The museum displays more than 2,000 pieces of Wizard of Oz memorabilia, including items connected to the books, films and history of Oz.
The collection is organized in display cabinets with informational notes and QR codes that help visitors explore the history of Oz. Early exhibits trace Oz-related history from the 1850s through 1990, including the 50th anniversary of MGM’s 1939 film.
Explore the Wizard of Oz Memorabilia Collection
Visitors can explore movie-related memorabilia including an original Winkie Guard spear, authentic signatures from cast members of MGM’s 1939 film, Judy Garland memorabilia, Munchkin memorabilia, an Apple Tree, a life-size Gatekeeper and Jack Haley memorabilia.
Beyond memorabilia from the 1939 film, the collection includes Wizard of Oz figurines, Christmas ornaments, Halloween memorabilia, Return to Oz memorabilia, comics, Barbie dolls, nutcrackers, oversized Oz dolls and editions of Wizard of Oz books from around the world.
Spanning generations of Oz history, the collection brings together rare Wizard of Oz memorabilia, movie-related artifacts, books and collectibles in one museum experience.
Visitors can also take photos with life-size Oz characters and a Flying Monkeys backdrop.
The museum offers a family-friendly experience, including a children’s area with vintage Oz toys, books and illustrations from the Wizard of Oz series.
Families may enjoy introducing children to the Wizard of Oz story before their visit. The museum also offers an animal hunt where children can search for more than 20 animals throughout the exhibits and earn a prize.
The museum experience can also introduce children to art through Van Gogh and demonstrate how modern projection technology can transform art, stories and imagery into immersive experiences.
Children can interact with scenes inspired by the Oz stories, including skipping along the Yellow Brick Road, encountering the Cowardly Lion and field mice, and experiencing a dramatic tornado scene.
Children can explore Munchkinland filled with colorful flowers and discover scenes inspired by the Oz books, including the Tin Woodman and a Munchkin girl on the bridge. Another scene features the Witch’s castle and Jack Pumpkinhead, bringing characters and details from The Marvelous Land of Oz to life.
The museum also features an immersive Universe experience inspired by high-resolution imagery from the James Webb Space Telescope.
The collection also includes Oz books featuring many of the animals and characters from the series, along with works by L. Frank Baum beyond the original Oz story.
The collection includes a wide variety of Oz-related themes and objects, including magic, pirates, ships, dragons, figurines, costumes, dolls, robots and other collectibles that appeal to different interests and ages.
Together, these exhibits give visitors of all ages a deeper look at the characters, stories, art and history that have made the world of Oz popular for generations.
