Wizard of Oz Museum · Museum History · Chapter 3

From a private collection of rare Oz books to a museum welcoming visitors: discover how Fred and Palina helped bring the Wizard of Oz Museum to life.

Every museum has a beginning. The Wizard of Oz Museum began with Fred's interest in Oz literature, his growing collection of rare books, and Palina's encouragement to share that collection with others.

But turning a personal collection into a public museum required more than enthusiasm. There were plans to develop, a location to establish, and exhibits to create.

This chapter follows the journey from the first museum idea to opening the doors at the original location in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
